With a label ‘organic’, Mongolian agricultural products will be penetrated into the global market soon. Focused on this matter, the Second National Forum on organic foods and agriculture was held on November 30.
Co-organized by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), FAO and the Mongolian Creativity Center NGO, the forum brought together some 120 representatives of agricultural and food companies.
On the sideline of the forum, workshop entitled ‘Warrant for Organic Foods’ was organized for the attendees. They discussed issues of a present state of the Mongolia’s agricultural sector, an affirmation of relevant rules and standards and setting up a working group to formulate a draft national program on organic foods.
The forum’s participants also approved a motto of Mongolian organic products to be exported to the global market hence it will be ‘Prospect and Organic Choice’.
Mongolian parliament adopted the law on organic foods in 2016, and it came into force on January 1, 2017.
